CAUGHT IN A TRAP was formed in 2005 in Queens NYC, and solidified their current lineup the following year in 2006. This quintessential outer borough, inner city punk band was formed by Paul Seda and Jay Rogan who played together in EYES OF HATE. CAUGHT IN A TRAP'S first demo was recorded with Paul on vocals, but when the band recruited bassist Rich Fie and asked if he was interested in playing bass, Fie replied "I'd rather sing in a band". With Paul moving to guitar and Rich Fie now on vocals, the band had discussed changing their name, but Jay said "Fuck it... we still got CAUGHT IN A TRAP T-shirts left....so let's just keep the name". This no nonsense approach to making music together still stands. The band then recorded a new 5 song demo with legendary NYHC producer Don Fury. Soon after, Richie Fie's longtime friend 6pack Jon joined on as the bassist and made up the lineup that stands to this day.
In 2007 CAUGHT IN A TRAP returned to Don Fury and recorded a full length album titled "Rats Get Fat" which was released on No Joke Records. The record was received well by critics and was described by most as "straight up, in your face NYHC!" The band also shot a video for the song "Driven" shot by Blake Farber (OLDE YORK) which featured Rich Fie's younger brother and 168lbs boxing star Will "Power" Rosinsky. On the strength of the album and video, CIAT played hundreds of shows over the next few years in NY and the surrounding areas. While the songs have serious subject matter, the band's intense live shows are known to be also filled with lots of laughs, as the band never takes itself too seriously and knows how to have a good time.
When they are not making music as CAUGHT IN A TRAP, the members are all proud tradesmen and union workers...and those working class ethics can be heard throughout their music.

In 2013 the band returned to the studio, this time with Glen Lorieo behind the board. Glen has engineered and produced many hardcore bands including YUPPICIDE, NO REDEEMING SOCIAL VALUE, BILLY CLUB SANDWICH, CROWN OF THORNS, and MAXIMUM PENALTY. Filled with "piss and vinegar" in response to the current political, economic and gentrification of their hometown of NYC, CAUGHT IN A TRAP recorded "Goodnight New York". While sticking to their roots as a "straight up" hardcore band, songs like "Easy Come, Easy Go" shows that CAUGHT IN A TRAP can move a bit out of the "box" showing the many musical influences the working class streets of NY have taught them.
